Between 2014 and 2023, Bala was CEO and co-founder of Clip Health, a YC, Khosla Ventures, and NIH-backed startup that built products for rapid health testing. Clip Health raised $54M and launched a 30-min COVID-19 test distributed to customers including doctor's offices, drive-through clinics, and employers in 21 U.S. states in 2021-22 but failed to parlay their covid successes into sustainable growth and shut down in August 2023. Bala holds a PhD in engineering from the University of Houston.
